Hello,
In the last issue I promised I was going to share with you a process that will allow you to discover how you can reveal what you really want to do in life and how to find out where your true passions lie.
Listen: everybody has at least something that they like to do in life. Whether if they like to party, whether if they like to travel, read, socialise, go to the fun fair… there ARE things that you like to do.
What I want you to realize is that there is A REASON why you like to do these things. And the main reason is that you want to feel a particular emotion from it.
When you go to parties you do it to experience something. Maybe it makes you feel free, maybe reading helps you to feel relaxed, maybe going to the fun fair allows you to feel more spontaneous.
This means it’s the feeling or result that you ultimately want to experience out of these things you do is what gives you the real pleasure out of your life.
So the first key is to figure out…
1. Why do you like to do the things that you enjoy? Is it for fun, excitement, happiness, freedom, relaxation…? Why do you enjoy going to the park etc…
You see, your 9 to 5 job that you start from Monday and finish on Friday is usually based on you trying to make a living, pay your rent, buy new things or to have an income…
If you hate your job, you need to find opportunities, professions or jobs that allow you to experience the same feelings that you get from doing the things that you like to do everday.
If you enjoy playing computer games, travelling, admiring the beauty of nature.. etc…
You can also make money by doing computer tournaments that pay with winning prizes. You could create a business that involves travelling companies. If you like admiring nature so much, then why don’t you paint it, or become a photographer of nature?
If you like to feel spontaneous when you party on the weekends, maybe you can find a way how to make money that still allows you to feel the same feelings of spontaneity during the week.
Does that make sense? You tie in your most favourite pleasures with a job or profession that will actually pay you as you feel good about doing it.
This is where true fulfillment in life starts to unfold. You start to continuously feel the way you want to feel all the time and enjoy it and make money from it at the same time.
And this is the second key point…
2. What professions or jobs can you do that allow you to feel the feelings that you want in life and get paid while you do it? If you like getting to know new people, what jobs requires you to get to know new people that will also pay you for it.
The fact is, when you discover what feelings you get out of enjoying your hobbies, and once you figure out how you can get these same feelings in a profession or job of your choice, then you start to feel better about your job/what you are doing and you start to make a living that revolves around the idea of doing something that makes you feel good.
So let’s go through the exercise one more time:
1. What do you enjoy doing for recreational activities and what feelings do they give you? What feelings do you gain from partying, reading, playing computer games, etc… ? Why do you like to do it?
2. What types of jobs, professions or business ventures can you do that allows you to feel the same types of feelings the recreational activities give you?
Write down some ideas, you’ll be surprised about what jobs/professions you come up with.
Make it so that you get first hand experience with your ideas. Venture in them and notice if they are right for you… look them up and study them… and if they aren’t your cup of tea, try something else.
Let go of your fears and try doing something about your life and pursue your desires and dreams. You will find that one idea will count and contribute to the manifestation of another idea. Keep searching for something that is right for you.
You can either…
A. find a profession that enables you do things that you already enjoy doing – and get paid for doing it.
B. Find out what feelings you get out of doing your hobbies and find another place/profession that will alow you to feel those same feelings as you get paid for it.
I hope you find some use from this formula to help you to figure out what you really want to do in your life.
Remember this is your life we are talking about here. What is more important than that? :-S
It took me months to discover what I really wanted to do with my life. It may take you a few months too, but what’s most important is that you START THIS PROCCESS.
It’s much better to live a life full of passion than it is to live a life full of regret.
Wishing you all the best,
From Nicholas
