How To Stop Relying On Others To Feel Powerful!

One of the most common problems people have is a lack of self reliance.
A client of mine was in a fabulous relationship, the girl of his dreams, but no matter how good things were, he was scared about losing her.
He admitted that the issues were all to do with him, he also pointed out that he was clingy.
He would tear himself to pieces inside when his girlfriend was away or when he was alone, he couldn’t do anything by himself without her.
This is what I said to him:
“The only reason why you feel clingy and have no self belief when your not around her is because you are ‘relying’ on her to make you feel secure… That’s why your clinging onto her, because your clinging onto the emotions that you get ‘from her’ when your with her.”
I find that alot of the time with human interactions and relationships, it’s not low self esteem or low self confidence; but it’s the fact that your needing to feel something from people ‘first’ that will help you to get ‘you’ what you want.
In other words, a lack of self reliance!
For example: maybe you have been in a situation were you need to be around someone to feel secure. Or maybe you want people to verify your ability to feel confident. Or maybe you want people to make you feel happy about yourself ‘for you’.
…And then only when they verify it ‘for you’, then after you can feel good about yourself; But ‘if’ they are not around, it goes away.
So to own your self belief and success you must stop relying on others to feel these things and instead, learn how to feel them for yourself.
In other words, once you realize that you don’t need others to verify your desires for you, and that you can feel whatever you want within yourself all the time (no matter if other people are around or not) then you start to own your right to feel secure and believe in yourself all the time – wherever you go; Because you carry it around with you ‘inside’ as your own personal resource.
The key is that you gain inner access to these resources any time you want them.
When you stay comfortable in your ability to have choice and flexibility, in any situation, then you give yourself the permission to stay secure, happy and free.
In short, you become free from the ‘dependence’ of other people to feel confident, because you gain independence in your ability to stay successful within yourself – FOR YOURSELF!
To test this out… Stop for a moment and ask yourself if your waiting for someone to do something, or to tell you something, or to verify something for you, before you can start to feel good about yourself and act confidently..?
If you notice that you are, grab onto your personal responsibility to have more security – that supposed to be yours, and take rightful ownership of it to gain more personal power and independence with it from this moment on.
Sometimes it’s not a confidence boost that you need, sometimes it’s just about owning your energy and your given right to experience more of your own personal power.
You must NOT need people to feel good, but you must be secure and certain in your ability to be able to feel good because of ‘you’!
